《主体的生成机制——“十七年电影”内外的身体话语》讨论的是十七年电影中的身体话语这一建构自我的生成机制。全书将重点放在对十七年诸多电影文本的细读上，在身体生产与国家认同这个维度中，去试图打捞、审视并重读这些被遗漏在重读视野之外的，只能够在电影史的叙述中被偶尔提及和简要概述的影片，从而力图在一定程度上丰富既有的对十七年电影的研究。全书对理论的把握深入而准确，史料分析翔实全面，结合两者展开的描述和论证颇具新意，结构合理，写作规范，是一部有分量的学术著作。
