本辑包括6篇文章,内容以农村教育调查和教师生活与专业成长为主。“农村教育调查研究三题”一文,以作者近几年积累的大量第一手实地调查资料为依据,对我国农村义务教育经费问题,农村教师问题和农村初中辍学问题等进行了比较深入系统的分析研究。两篇关于教师生活与专业成长的叙事研究则从两名教师的个案入手,反映了真正持久有效的教师专业发展并非是在学者们所设计的各种外部力量的驱动下形成的,而是表现为一个追求自我实现的过程,区别或许仅在于不同的教师有不同的自我以及自我构建经历。“公立中学国际部的教育环境研究”以及评论“IBO,IB课程与IB教育”,则涉及了一个过去不太为人注意,但随着经济和教育全球化的进展将日益凸显的“国际学生”与“国际教育”的问题,值得研究者进行深入的调查与研究。而许美德所描绘的“中国知名教育家的肖像”一文,其特色不仅在于她的外国人的视角,还在于她所采用的叙事研究方法。
