《新时代交互英语》根据2003年教育部《大学英语课程教学要求》设计开发，是教育部“大学英语教学改革要点项目”，被列入“十五国家重点图书出版规划”项目。《新时代交互英语》由《读写译》与《视听说》两个相对独立、又相互联系的部分组成。除《视听说》和《读写译》网络课程的学习系统及书本教材以外，还包括“网络辅助平台”、“英语水平测试平台”和“学习资源库”等资源。主要用于高校非英语专业大学生的基础英语学习。《视听说》分为四个级别，每个级别十二至十三个单元。每单元都将视、听、说相结合，注重循序渐进地提高学生的英语听说能力。本套教材以《朗文交互英语》的素材为“母本”，体现了语言的地道性，又经由国内数十所著名高校的专家教授编纂，符合我国大学生的实际水平和学习情况。材料丰富、内容充实、话题多样，语言地道鲜活，具有时代感和趣味性。是一套时代特色和传统内容兼备的教材。本书为新时代交互英语——视听说（学生用书）第3级。
