《标准美国口语2》china chants 2与china chants工在每课的结构上相似，均包含一篇以chant形式出现的课文和若干对应的语言练习。但本书又与第一册不尽相同：首先，全书以语言功能为标准划分成11个单元；其次，语言练习扩展成了5个项目，分别是（1）听力训练（7rue or false）；（2）语音练（focus on sound）；（3）语言要点（focus on form）；（4）语言功能（focus on function）；（5）语言应用（interactive activities）。 教学过程建议分以下两个阶段进行：（1）语言能力的培养（skill development）和（2）语言的实际应用（skill using）。语言能力培养阶段包括：课前预备活动（warm—up），听录音理解课文（1istening comprehension），朗读和背诵（reading out loud and recitation），以及语言学习（1anguage study）。语言应用阶段包括：功能练习（functional practice），情景对话练习（situational dialogue），语言应用练习（role play and dramatization），小组讨论（group work）和个人／小组研究项目（task—and—project—based learning）。
