  “外贸英文书信”自从出版以来,历时近30年,经过许多次重印;被很多大专院校采用为外经贸专业的教材,颇受欢迎。    在这几十年改革开放的时期里,我国逐步实行社会主义市场经济,取得举世瞩目的成就,尤其是在外经贸方面,中国成为世界前10位的贸易大国之一。从事进出口贸易和国际经济合作的厂家商号从数百家增加到数万家,从事进出口业务工作的人员大量增加,开设外贸课的高等院校与日俱增。如今,中国已成功地加人世界贸易组织,2008年北京奥运会也正向我们走来,国际商业往来将更加广泛和频繁。因此,商业来往中外贸英文书信不仅仍占主要地位,而且起着越来越重要的作用。2000年我们已对本书进行过一次成功的改版,补充了外贸环节,突出了讲解重点,丰富了练习内容,受到了广泛的肯定和好评。历经七年,随着信息高速路的迅猛发展,商务沟通的往来、交流的手段和方式更加快捷便利,外贸英文书信的内容和形式更加丰富多彩,修改增订此书再次成为了必要。    在本书的第三版中,我们在贸易内容上删节或替换了重复课文,增添了非实物贸易的信函内容,介绍了除信函外的几种当今流行的写作形式并丰富了课后练习,补充了“促销信”、“合资企业信”、“租赁贸易信”、“商务合同”、“商务备忘录”、“电子邮件”、“商务传真”等信函,使此书的涵盖面更广,代表性更强,形式上更加与时俱进。    必须说明的一点是,“外贸英文书信”课是一门写作课程,仅仅理解学习课文还很不够,还应该多看类似的实例,做大量的笔头练习,加深并巩固对课文的理解,并在此基础上举一反三、融汇贯通,分析外贸语言的特点,比较中英语言翻译上的异同,提纲挈领地掌握不同性质信函的写作方法,只有这样才能做到深入、全面、灵活地撰写书信,在处理各种外贸情景的书信时得心应手、游刃有余。为了达到这一目的,我们特别在书中加上了六个单元的系列讲解(review and highlight),并在每个单元后面配有形式各样的练习,以便学习者进一步领会和揣摩。此外,为了方便读者学习和自我检测学习效果,我们对课文译文与练习答案都一一做了补充和修改,供大家参考。
