简介
我们正处在一个新的“世纪末”中。所谓“世纪”和“世纪末”，本来是人为地创造出来的。非若大自然中的春、夏、秋、冬，秩序井然，不可更易，而且每岁皆然，决不失信。“世纪”则不同，没有耶稣，何来“世纪”？没有“世纪”，何来“世纪末”？道理极明白易懂。然而一旦创造了出来，它就产生了影响，就有了威力。上一个“世纪末”，19世纪的 “世纪末”，在西方文学艺术等意识形态领域中就出现过许多怪异现象，甚至有了“世纪末病”这样的名词，这是众所周知的事实，无待辩论与争论。
佛教自两汉之际从印度传到中国以后，经过漫长的撞击和融合，已经变成了中国文化的一个重要组成部分。佛教对中国文化发生了巨大影响。本书重点介绍和分析了佛教对中国哲学思想、文学艺术、科学技术、民俗以及卫生体育等方面的影响。并试图通过一系列的实例证明这种影响的发生过程、发生范围，及其深远意义。
