要阅读叶芝，需要去看他各个时期的诗歌。只有在不同诗歌的对照中，
我们才能看到一个完整的叶芝，一个日趋成熟的叶芝。在叶芝早期的诗作中
，我们总能看到一个更加个人化的叶芝：爱情的不幸，感慨时光的逝去，对
美好的追求。
叶芝的伟大也许就存于此：他不断地突破自己，并且追求道德上的完善
，在美好、道德、信仰、希望、爱情上面追求拯救之路。叶芝也让我想起他
的先驱者和追随者：在他之前，但丁把中世纪神学大全的全部体系和自己全
部的体验锻造成诗歌；歌德从不间断学习和工作；莎士比亚通过自己无穷的
想像和自然的表现力，在诗歌和戏剧里表现他的噩梦、狂欢、幸福、忧患。
《苇间风》是一部爱的诗集，它由80首诗歌组成，是从叶芝1889年到
1959年十二部诗集中精选而出的。所选诗歌有的节奏低缓，犹如一曲从长巷
里飘出的大提琴曲；有的明亮欢快，宛如爱尔兰草原上一首优美的风笛曲。
爱贯穿了叶芝的生命，也贯穿于他所有的诗歌中。在他的人生和诗集中
，爱是严肃而又圣洁，美丽而又痛苦的。他将青春、爱情连同死亡一同糅进
