　　《世纪英语——综合教程》是新世纪高职教材编委会组织编写的公共英语类课程规划教材之一。　　这是一套完全由高职英语教学一线教师编写的高职公共英语教材。在编写本系列教材的过程中，我们以《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求(试行)?(简称《基本要求》)为依据，坚持“以应用为目的、实用为主、够用为度”的编写原则，强调打好语言基础和培养语言应用能力并重；强调语言基本技能的训练和培养实际从事涉外交流活动的语言应用能力并重。重视语言学习的规律，正确处理听、说、读、写、译之间的关系。紧紧围绕高等学校英语应用能力考试a、b级和大学英语四级的考试大纲要求，充分考虑高职学生的英语基础和程度，最大限度地使教材与学生的基础相适应，与实际需要相吻合，缩小教材与教学实际的差距。　　通过教材体系的革新，体现认知规律，改变教学观念，建立以交际法为框架、结构法为支撑的实用语言与技能综合培养教学法(任务法／交际话题法)体系。把重点放在学习的过程中，材料的选择和安排、练习和活动的设计等均通过任务的形式来体现，围绕任务来展开。将交际教学原则应用于读、写、译教学中，在读、写、译中渗透听说的练习，通过听说加深对课文的理解。
